CubWorks™ is a family owned business that was established to address the need for children to develop legible handwriting skills.

Tricia McKenzie, founder of CubWorks™, has developed a unique method that guides the child’s hand through the formation of each letter & number by using memorable pictures & stories.

The CubWorks™ program incorporates pictures of familiar objects such as clouds, apples & trees, into creative stories that promote learning letter/number formations in a meaningful, fun way. The pictures & stories enhance visualization of formation sequences in the “mind's eye”; allowing children to remember how to form letters/numbers appropriately.

Children using this program will discover how simple and fun handwriting can be!

  Our Mission

Enhance children’s ability to complete written tasks in a legible and automatic manner.

  Our Vision

Our vision is to create products that will enhance the development of handwriting: including the building blocks of handwriting (sensory, fine motor, & bi-lateral hand skills) as well as the mechanics of handwriting (letter/number formation, alignment, & spacing).

About the Author

Tricia McKenzie, OTR/L received her BS from The Ohio State University. She has seventeen years experience as a pediatric occupational therapist; sixteen of which have been as a school based therapist. The treatment of handwriting difficulties has been an area of interest for Tricia for many years since it is one of the most common reasons for referral to occupational therapy in the school setting. Her primary focus for intervention has been the development of the “building blocks” for handwriting but time has also been spent on explicit instruction of letter/number formations. It was during this the time of formal instruction that Tricia noticed many children struggling to remember letter/number formations using the various handwriting methods in existence. The unique CubWorks™ program was developed to meet the needs of her students. Formalized materials were created based on positive feedback received from teachers, parents and other occupational therapists who have witnessed the impact of using this methodology with a variety of children.

  A Note From Tricia

Thank you for choosing to use CubWorks™. I hope you enjoy this program as much as I have enjoyed developing it. This unique method uses original pictures & stories and established developmental aids to help children learn how to make their letters and numbers in a fun, and more importantly, memorable way. Many children are taught the correct way form their letters and numbers, but they have difficulty remembering the multiple starting points and various stroke directions. The pictures & stories used to teach letter/number formations create lasting mental images because children relate to familiar objects used in CubWorks™ such as clouds, apples, trees and baskets.
CubWorks™ has been evolving since 1995 and countless times, I’ve witnessed first hand how quickly children have learned appropriate letter and number formations using this method. It has been a wonderful experience to see so many children smile when being able to perform a skill like writing their name for the first time, often stating, “I did it!”  I am confident that your child will also enjoy using CubWorks™ when learning one of the most important skills in childhood, handwriting.
